From late 1920’s to early 30’s, Yusheng (Ray Lui) has established himself as the overlord of Shanghai. He’s in politics, business, and, above all, the huge underworld. Yusheng decides to have a bank of his own. Later, he decides to quit opium smoking and starts going to school. He has developed a very strong sense of commitment to the country. In 1973, Yusheng returns to Shanghai, only to be reined in by the government. He is frustrated. Then China has fallen into Communist’s hands. A sad Yusheng finally realizes that he has to return to Hong Kong again…
