Carol "Dodo" Cheng returns as Mainland Inspector Cheng Shih Nan for more cultural comedy in Her Fatal Ways 3! This time out, Shih Nan is assigned to a top-secret mission to protect a Communist Party official in Hong Kong. The official is in Hong Kong to see his first love, but Taiwanese bad guys catch wind of the visit and plot an assassination. It's up to Shih Nan to save the day with help from a Taiwanese policeman named Yung (Chan Chung Yung), who just so happens to fancy Shih Nan! Director Alfred Cheung co-stars as Shih Nan's sidekick Hsiou Sheng, and popular character actor Anthony Wong is the the Hong Kong police liaison. Like the other Her Fatal Ways movies, Her Fatal Ways 3 strikes a balance between social commentary and fun commercial comedy, and eschews the use of cheap gags and pratfalls to earn laughs. Again the cultural clash between the Mainland and Hong Kong is explored, but thanks to a timely detour, Taiwan gets thrown into the mix too!
