Also known as Till We Meet Again, Au Revoir, Mon Amour is a lush romantic drama set during the Japanese occupation of Shanghai at the opening of the Second World War. The incomparable Anita Mui stars as a nightclub singer torn between two vastly different men: a member of the Chinese resistance (Tony Leung Ka Fai) and a lieutenant in the occupying Japanese army (Hidekazu Akai). What follows is an epic romance of love lost and regained, and the tragic sacrifices made during wartime by those on the fringes of the battlefield. Director Tony Au (Dream Lovers) brings wartime Shanghai to gorgeous, vibrant life, and the actors turn in powerful, emotionally compelling performances as characters whose lives play out against the backdrop of an unavoidable and oftentimes violent world at war. Anita Mui and co-star Carrie Ng both received acting nominations for their work at the 11th Hong Kong Film Awards.
